Comal River · New Braunfels, Texas
Ask us to reserve a king room at a Comal River lodge in New Braunfels
from$390for two sharing, 3 nights, $195 per person
This stay puts two people at a Comal River lodge in New Braunfels for three nights, in a room with a king bed and the water a short walk from the door. Our Austin office picks the dates with you, asks the lodge whether those nights are open, and sends one written quote before anything is held.
The Comal is fed by large springs, so it keeps a steady level through the hot months better than any other river in the catalog. That makes this a stay we plan in every month of the year.

A king room steps from the Comal
You sleep in a riverside room at a lodge in town, one king bed for two. The lodge runs its own rooms and its own front desk, so you register there on arrival and the staff on site look after the room for the length of your visit.
The river is a few paces from the lodge. It is a short river, and in most weeks it moves at close to the same pace whether you arrive in January or July, which suits a slow morning by the bank as well as an afternoon in the water.

Three Comal nights, item by item
Folded into the lodge rate
- 3 nights for two sharing: riverside lodge room with a king bed
- Every charge the lodge makes mandatory; it lists none beyond the nightly rate
Paid on your own
- Texas hotel tax and any local hotel tax, added by the lodge at checkout
- Driving there and back in your own car
- Meals, groceries and anything bought on the river
- Tubes, boats and park entry from local outfitters or parks
from$390for two sharing, 3 nights, $195 per person
We built this figure from the lodge's published nightly rate of $129 for a room two can share, times three nights, with no extra mandatory lodge charges because the lodge lists none. That gives from $390 for two, or from $195 per person. State and local hotel tax come on top and are added by the lodge at checkout, and the amount for your real dates is confirmed in writing. Our planning and the quote cost you nothing; the lodge pays the office a commission after the stay.
Springs under the town and a Comal that barely drops in summer
We order every stay by one plain measure: how much of the river's May flow is still running in August. For the Comal we use the USGS gauge at New Braunfels, number 08169000, and the medians of monthly mean flow from 1996 to 2025. May comes to 296.4 cubic feet per second and August to 257.1.
That means August keeps about 87% of May's water, the highest share among our eleven stays. Springs rising under the town feed the river from below, so a hot, rainless stretch changes it less than it changes the rain-fed rivers farther west and north.
Winter to fall on the Comal, and an October running low
We plan this stay in winter, spring, summer and fall alike. Even a spring-fed river answers to rain, though, and fall 2026 has been dry: over the 30 days to 29 October 2026, provisional USGS readings put the Comal near 154 cubic feet per second, against a usual October median of 291.
We cannot promise a water level for any week. What we can do is report the river as it stands in the week of your quote, so you decide with current numbers in front of you.
Lodge, king bed and both hotel taxes in one quote
Look in the quote for the lodge, the room, your three nights and the price for those exact dates, with Texas state hotel tax of 6% and the local hotel tax listed apart from the room cost. It also carries the lodge's policy on cancellation, which you read before you say yes. Rates shift with dates and with what the lodge has left, which is why the figure here is a starting point and the quote is the number that counts.
Leaving after Friday lunch for the Comal
From our office on Exposition Boulevard the drive south runs about 54 miles and takes roughly 1 hour 4 minutes on the usual route when traffic is light. That is close enough to leave after lunch on a Friday and still reach the river before evening.
Send your Comal dates to the office
Write with the month you are after and how many nights you want, and we will check with the lodge and write back with the river, the room and the figure for those dates. The request form takes your note at any hour, sending it is free, and the lodge holds nothing until you answer the quote; you can read the seven steps from request to check-in first if you like.
A request that arrives after 1 p.m., or on a Sunday or Monday, gets its written answer by 4 p.m. on the next phone day.
Phone Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central. (512) 478-2163
