Cold summer water, and a two-bedroom Frio River cabin in Concan you can reserve

from$770for two sharing, 3 nights, $385 per person

Three summer nights in a two-bedroom Frio River cabin in Concan, for two people who want cold, clear spring water through the hot months. Our Austin office picks the dates with you, asks the cabin resort whether those nights are open, and sends one written quote. When you answer yes, we ask the resort to hold the cabin under your name.

It is one of the two longest drives in our catalog, and the stay runs three nights. The figure starts from $385 per person with two sharing, and the resort's own fees are still an estimate here, so the written quote is where the real number appears.

Two bedrooms at a cabin resort on the Frio

You sleep in a two-bedroom cabin at a cabin resort that runs its own units along the Frio. The figure is built on the published rate for a two-bedroom cabin, so a couple has room to spread out over three nights.

The resort keeps its own front desk, registers you when you arrive and collects its own hotel tax. Outside, the river is the reason you came: the days here tend to be built around the water, with the cabin as the place you return to for shade and sleep.

Concan stay, split into counted and extra

Part of the Concan figure

  • 3 nights for two sharing: two-bedroom cabin at a Frio River cabin resort
  • The lodge's own cleaning and resort charges, counted at $60 until the lodge states them in writing

Paid separately on the trip

  • Texas hotel tax and any local hotel tax, added by the lodge at checkout
  • Driving there and back in your own car
  • Meals, groceries and anything bought on the river
  • Tubes, boats and park entry from local outfitters or parks

from$770for two sharing, 3 nights, $385 per person

We built this figure from three nights at the resort's published rate of $235 a night for a cabin two can share, plus $60 for its cleaning and resort charges, then rounded up: from $770 for two, which is from $385 per person. Hotel taxes come on top and are collected by the resort at checkout. The $60 is our estimate until the resort puts its charges in writing, and the total is confirmed only in your quote. None of it pays for planning: the office's work and the quote are free to you, and the resort pays us a commission after the stay.

Cold Frio flow through a Concan summer

We sort every stay by one measure: how much of a river's May water is still flowing in August. For the Frio at Concan, the USGS gauge in town shows a median of 56.5 cubic feet per second in May and 35.1 in August, across the years 1996 to 2025. That works out to 62% of the spring flow still there at the height of summer.

Springs feed this river, which is why it holds on better than the rain-fed rivers further down our list, though 62% puts it at the edge of the spring-fed group. The same gauge serves the couples cabin upstream near Leakey, so both stays share this number; Concan sits lower on the river.

May to September arrivals, with no promise on floating

We plan this cabin for arrivals from May through September, the months when cold water feels best. Water still depends on rain, and the fall of 2026 has brought the region little of it. We make no promise about the level, about swimming or about floating. What we do is check the river in the week we write your quote and report it to you as it is that week, so you decide with current numbers in hand.

Concan rates move: two reasons in your quote

Your quote names the cabin resort, the exact nights, the cabin itself and the price for those dates, with Texas state hotel tax and the local hotel tax shown on separate lines. It also spells out how the resort handles a cancellation.

The figure can move for two reasons. Nightly rates change with dates, and this resort has not published its cleaning and resort charges, so we count them at $60 until it states them in writing. If you later need to change or cancel, we pass that on following the cancellation steps.

166 miles, a little over three hours

From our office in west Austin the trip runs about 166 miles, roughly 3 hours 19 minutes on the usual route when traffic is light. You drive your own car, and leaving after lunch on arrival day puts you at the resort's front desk before evening.

When to write about a Concan summer

Tell us the month you hope to arrive and how many nights suit you, and we will ask the resort about those dates. You can send the request form at any hour; no night is held for you until you say yes to the written quote.
